Can someone PLEASE tell me how to stretch the Vinyl of a car convertible top?
I have an old convertible. The top is in really good condition, but the rear window has seperated from the vinyl along the bottom edge. I guess due to drastic temperature changes the vinyl has shrunken some and it needs to be stretched so that it can meet the bottom of the window. I don't want to nor can I afford to replace the entire convertible top especially since the rest of it is fine. I was wondering if anyone knew of a product or technique that would allow me to stretch the material easier? Have any of you attempted anything like this before? After the vinyl is stretched what type of adhesive should I use to reattach the window?
the window is glass so it cannot be sewn.
Try heating it with your hairdryer. If the vinyl isn't too old, it should stretch. The best way to attach it is to sew it if possible. Maybe a auto upholstery shop could do that for you.
