Transition Game

How can i transition my game to when im sober?

I play hockey, i've been playing for about 10 yrs now. I recently (about a 3 months ago) have been playing hockey at a College d3 level with a few beers in me. I play a lot more comfortable and ppl have told me i play better. How can i transition this to me playing with out drinking?

Are you a high strung person at all? This is the same exact situation I go through, I've been playing for 20+ years, am a very productive player when sober, but with a few pops in me I feel not only more confident but the nerves are chilled out a little bit. It's not like I am self conscious or nervous about playing, I've been doing it long enough, I am just a very high strung, hyper person that a nice Tall Boy 24oz before a game helps me relax and get into a more chilled mood. Also there is such a thing as taking it too far, playing with 6-8 beers in ya is typically a pretty bad idea as that can affect coordination and self control. The beer was an easy fix for me, so I never really tried to expand on the idea, maybe listen to some relaxing music on the way to the rink or a few deep breaths to help calm you nerves before a skate. I know it sounds kinda gay and I've never tried it but maybe Yoga? Hope this helps, and be sure to not over-medicate!!
