Training Cord

do I need a new battery, or a new AC cord for a hp G61 laptop?

I have the most recent Hp G61 laptop. I cannot get it to charge though. I have had it and the original Battery since Christmas 2009, but even when the AC is plugged into it, it will not boot up at all, so what I want to ask is, Do I need a new battery, a new AC cord, or a new Motherboard?

Additional Details
The Battery has no charge left on it, so I cannot even get it to boot up. Also, I have not Taken it apart, due to the lack of training. If it is the AC cord, How do I test to see if it is a bad cord?

To try running it without the battery and straight on the cord, do I have to remove anything besides the battery?
the brick does not have a light on it, not that it isn't loading up, there IS NO light on it.

It isn't the battery, because it doesn't work when plugged in.

Seems like it is the power chord. Does anything light up when plugged in?

Does the adapter thingy in the middle of the power chord light up? If not, it is the chord.

May sound stupid, but did you check to make sure the outlet works?
