What is the difference between rep training and resistance training.?

I've been working out for a month at the local community center, and I was wondering what was the difference in the final product between repetition exercising, and resistance exercises.

resistance builds and tones. Lower weights with more reps tone up the muscles, higher weights with fewer reps build the mass of the muscle. What you do depends on your goals.
