i cant remember the name of this old monster creator game i played?

the game was for PlayStation i think and it was really similar to monster rancher but you create the monsters from these crystal seed/egg things that have certain traits or elements. i remember using a lightning element crystal to create a monster that looked like a yellow golm with a barrel at its waist and fighting a door or guillotine looking monster. there was a map view with places like a monster lab where you create the monster and a gate where you could release your monster into the wild, there were other places as well but i cant remember what they where. the fighting system was like monster rancher and the monster creation system was similar to Monsterseed. i really want to play this game again and see if it is as cool as i remember it any help would be much appreciated.
