do people sing and clap along during a musical? what to expect at a musical like jersey boys?!?
what to expect during a muscial. very excited. my first time to san francisco and through our hotel concierge we are going to see "jersey boys". what to expect? do people sing along, clap? what goes on?
Audience members DO NOT SING during a musical. Clapping occurs spontaneously after some musical numbers (Don't try and start it, follow the lead of other audience members. If there's too much clapping the performance will run long and the performers will get thrown off.), also at the end of acts, the start of intermission and at the end of the show. Going to a musical is the same as going to the symphony, an opera or a play-- that is, get there early or you won't be seated, stay silent and seated (with cellphones etc. on SILENT and Not Used for txting or anything during the performance), and don't bring food or drinks. Bringing babies or small children to a non-child-oriented performance is a very bad idea. I didn't start going to the symphony until I was about 13, i.e., old enough to sit through a movie silently.
