1)If the two charges have opposite signs, find the location of all points (if there are any) at which the potential (relative to infinity) is zero.
Why is the mid point between the 2 charges zero?
2)If the two charges have the same sign, find the location of all points (if there are any) at which the potential (relative to infinity) is zero.
Why is there no such point?
1) Potential is a scalar = k*q/r since for each charge k & r are the same and the q's are opposite in sign their sum adds to zero
2) Now if q's are the same sign then there is no way they can add to zero any where
