does anyone know why my toilet makes a loud noise, like a fog horn when i flush it?
Its so loud i think the neighbours can here it. It started doing it a few months ago but im scared to call a plumber out incase they charge a bomb.
This probably is because the fill valve is not opening completely causing a high-frequency chatter in your plumbing pipes. Make sure the float moves freely from all the way down to all the way up. Then, let the tank empty and refill. When it's full, quickly push down and release the float several times, letting it pop up against the upper stop. If that doesn't correct the problem, you probably need a new fill valve. They're available in any hardware store, they're cheap, and easy to replace. Follow the directions on the back of the package.
