I just got new glasses with anti-glare lenses?
the lenses are supposed to be anti-glare but there are glares everywhere! much more glares than any of my old glasses had. What should I do? Also, they're impossible to clean. I just can't get the smudges off! help?
Many opticians use the term 'anti-glare' wrongly. Your glasses doesn't have anti-glare coatings!!!... the only thing that cuts down glare is... sunglasses, especially polarized sunglasses.
What you have is an anti-reflective coating on your lenses. This helps to reduce the amount of unwanted reflections of light sources and ambient white lights.. which can cause 'ghosting' of images.
You're seeing more glare.. because this anti-reflective coating actually INCREASES the amount of light getting through your lenses!!!..
But don't despare... This coating is actually better for your eyes, especially with computer work, or night driving... and they're cosmetically much nicer than non-coated lenses.
If you have issues with glare, get some Rx sunnies.
As for cleaning them... use some hand-soap or shampoo... then dry off with a silk cloth.. then avoid touching the surfaces.. They will be pristine after that. (treat the lens surface as your eye surface.. you don't go touching your eyes do you?)
