Waß ist Zuständichkeit des Kirchensteur ? I did not understand during my last vist ot Germany ?
There was a fundamental difference between USA & Germany after WW II besides Nationalsocialism....W.Germany had a church tax mandated that everyone drawing a paycheck be taxed a certain amount that then was given to that person's named denomination--be it a Mosque,Temple, whatever all workers had to pay--those without a "church" affiliation then had their funds directed to a humanitarian activities masterfund,administered by the government...This is of course unconstitutionnal in USA. !!The wall came down and politics changed this particular tax went away.
My last visit to my local Catholic church gave me the impression they are on the verge of tithing !! Is this full cirlcle or what ?
Earliest settlers came here to escape religious persecution in Europe, so now maybe I'll have to go to Europe to escape religious persecution in the USA. George W. and his pals are not helping in this either, the fundamentalists think tithing is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
This particular tax was gone long before I left
Germany, which was long before the fall of the
wall. The system is the same. But you only pay
when you're in the church. And the tax is only
for "official" churches. Which is: catholics and
protestants. Every other church has to collect
on their own.
