Mathematical Modelling question- tennis?
Scenario
After a crushing defeat on the grass tennis courts by Ikan, the french professional Justin bemoaned his luck to his friends while toying with his frogs legs that eveing, "Iam never setting foot on this surface again, its only for sheep not tennis" he said. "The courts are so fast, at only 5 feet 5 tall, i am a good foot smaller than Ikan, and i just couldnt return his serves, they all semmed to go in and yet half of them i couldnt even reach".
Question
Investigate the claims that height is a great advantage for the serve in the modern game of tennis. In particular you are required to concentrate on the greater portion of the service box which the taller player should be able to reach effectively and you are not to be too concerned with the differencee in serving power between the players.
Initially consider the problem under the assumptions that both gravity and air resistance are being ignored.
