I have recently upgraded my computer from 256 mgs of ram to 768 mgs of ram x installing 512 mgs of ram.?

Bay # 1 has 256 mgs and bay # 2 has the 512. this is a dell Demension 3100 computer and when I did this the computer now says that there is a bios problem and wants to run in a safer mode. I then restart the computer and it works fine no messages. Its when I turn it off for a wile and start it up again is when I get the message. some sort of bios problem. I cant rember if it was high density or low density memory. ddr2 dual channel is what it takes. How do I fix this?

Are you able to switch the bigger RAM into the bay#1, and the smaller one on Bay#2? Try this first, and if the problem still exists, find the BIOS limit for the RAM. It may require update of the BIOS software.
