what drills can i do by myself or with a friend to get better at basketball?

I have access to a gym once a week for a month or two other than that i play on my driveway. I'm not gonna spend more than 30 dollars on anything. Thanks. I need better ball handling and shooting.

to prepare for my select tryouts//school tryouts, this is what i did [i made both team and i am starting point guard for both and im going to make varsity freshman year].

shooting- practice. start with post shots..and move out until you get to three point shots. make sure you use the correct form [shoot with one hand, don't push it with two hands.] make sure you can do layups..a player that cant do layups..has no chance at all. worry mostly about your jump shots. a player that makes most of their three pointers is impressive. also when you cant shoot hoops..take a bball and lay flat on the ground and work on your techniques..like lay on the floor..get the ball in shooting position..and shoot it straight up. for layups/post shots do the mikin drill..that always works. when you go to bball camps they always do that.

Ball handling- i am a point guard. to help with my ball handling, i go for runs with the ball. that's how i started. now i go for runs with a ball in each hand and constantly dribble. work on ball handling tricks..like between the legs, the swerve, around the back, simple crossovers, and things like that. you can also do the spider drill.

strength- for arms..lift weights a lot its simple as that. high school bball players/college players are in the gyma at least 3 times a week lifting weights to build muscle. for legs..squats and leg presses. work on your ankle strenth so you don't get injured easily [sprains, rolls, dislocations, pulled muscles]. to work on ankle strength, make big circles with your ankle. and do the alphabet with your ankles. if you have really weak ankles get physical therapy during off season and use rubber bands.

Conditioning/endurance- you need to run a lot. run at least 2.5 miles a day. that builds leg muscle and helps your endurance. a bball player that tires easily isn't a good asset to the team. if you have access to a gym..run suicides/ladders and 5-30's. those are always good and really increase speed. otherwise just run on a tredmill.

other hints- be confident on both offense and defense..a player that doesn't take things seriously and is not confident with the ball will do horribly in an game.
